Crystal's Book Reviews

So you might have noticed that I started to post and rate the books I have just finished, on the side of the blog. I have decided to take it a step further and created a blog where I can review the books.

Here is the general address of the blog http://crystalsbookreview.blogspot.com

I've also linked the book names or corresponding stars so clicking on them will take you straight to the review of the book.

Feel free to leave your thoughts/opinions about the books as well.

Mixed Words

Shaunna, Ryan, Emmerson and Camden were here visiting.

Emmerson is quite a talker and says the funniest things, my favorites this week were.

Hold you (when she wants someone to hold her)

Can Aunt T.Jay lie down with you (trying to get me to put her to sleep, knowing I won't actually make her sleep)

I don't like that (I was singing and dancing, trying to get her to sing for me, apparently I shouldn't try out for American Idol)

Grandpa or papa (any time someone asked her anything about favorites or most fun person)

Under Attack

So today at work a coworker of mine was entering the building when two

squirrels attacked her. After receiving multiple scratch and bite marks on her arms she had to leave work and visit the hospital for rabies shots.

It really got me thinking about life, I mean we could be attacked at any moment by a rabid squirrel, dog or even human.

Life is just too precious not to do something about this epidemic, so next week I am going to host a 5k run to increase awareness about the disease that is RABIES. For those who are interested in participating, breakfast will be fettucini alfredo from the olive garden.

Any and all donations are welcome.

WSJ.com - Mormons Dismayed by Harsh Spotlight

Interesting article on the WallStreetJournal regarding Mitt Romney and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Romney's presidential campaign brought national attention to the Mormon Church, leading to public attacks by critics of the faith. Now Mormons, who are taught not to argue with outsiders, are taking on their antagonists like never before.

Last night Crystal and I went to the new Imax 3d movie called U23D with the Lambs.

National Geographic filmed concerts in Argentina and Brasil with full 3d effects.

It was simply amazing, the music was of course awesome and the 3d effects were done quite well. There are times when you feel like you are standing in the crowd and other times when you actually feel like you are on stage with the band.

The movie had about 12 songs and had some older songs, some from the 90's and some newer songs. All of them were great!!!

Even if you are not a big U2 fan, it is still worth it to go see the show.

Well worth the time and money.

Find it at theater near you

Remember this is a 3d show, so you probably won't be able to buy a dvd to see it.

Email from Intergalatic Medicine show

To Readers of Science Fiction and Fantasy everywhere,

When you have something great, you want everyone to know. So you tell people about it. You share it. You pass it along to friends everywhere. Well, that's what we're doing with InterGalactic Medicine Show. We want to make sure everyone has had a chance to check out what we're doing, so we're offering up a sampling of our stories – for free.

During the month of February we are going to make one story from each of our first four issues available at no charge. Two stories will be set free on February 1st, and two more on February 15th. Just visit www.intergalacticmedicineshow.com and explore the table of contents; the free stories will be clearly marked.

Issue one's free story will be "Trill and The Beanstalk" by Edmund R. Schubert, issue two's will be "Yazoo Queen" by Orson Scott Card (from his Alvin Maker series), issue three's "Xoco's Fire" by Oliver Dale, and issue four's "Tabloid Reporter To The Stars" by Eric James Stone. Each story is fully illustrated by artists who were commissioned to create artwork to accompany that tale – as is every story published in IGMS.

"Tabloid Reporter To The Stars" will also be featured in the upcoming InterGalactic Medicine Show anthology from Tor, which will be out this August (we wanted you to get a sneak peek of the anthology, too). However, the other three stories aren't available anywhere except the online version of IGMS.

It's really quite simple. Great stories. Custom illustrations. Free. We're pleased with and proud of the magazine we're publishing; now we're passing it along to our friends and telling them about it. We hope you'll enjoy it and do the same.
