So, I've been digging through old pictures trying to find things to put in frames around our house. I thought it was fun to see all the old pictures of our nieces and nephew. Plus, Ben and Marsie don't update their blog--bonus!!

The news we've all been waiting for

Since Robert Jordan passed away we have all been waiting to hear what would happen with the last book of his series. well on Friday Tor books announced that they have chosen a new author for the final book of the Wheel of Time series, Memory of Light

The new author will be Brandon Sanderson, he's a Mormon and a BYU graduate. (and he didn't even write that stupid twilight series.)

I have never read any of his books so I pick up one today from Barnes and noble.

I'll let you know if its any good.

Disney World

So for Christmas this year my parents took all of us to Disney World. As you can imagine 16 people in 2 hotel rooms can be a bit crowded, especially with crying babies. But it was way fun and worth the trip.

Here are some random pictures, we took hundreds so i might post more.

Brasil

Thought this was cool, since I served my mission in Brasil.Brazilian Senate Honors Church

Do you Tanga?

I'm sure most of you have hear ofwoot and many of the other
daily deal sites.

But one of my favorites is Tanga. They mainly specialize in selling Games, but they offer quite a variety of products for sell.

Another fun feature of Tanga is that they offer daily puzzles to solve. Crystal and I are addicted to the puzzles and try and solve them regularly. The cool thing about the puzzles is that users can create them and have them submitted and used.

Well I submitted my first attempt at creating a puzzle and its going to get published tonight 9pm Texas time. So visit Tanga and try and solve my puzzle. (keep in mind it is my first so its really easy)

have fun!

New paint

After about six months of nagging, We finally painted our kitchen and dining room area.

We chose a green for the kitchen.

The dining room was supposed to be a red color but turned out to be more of a burnt orange, which is good living in Austin, of course the Longhorns need to play better.

Nox Rocks

So I finally took some pictures of the new car.

Crystal thinks the wood makes me look like an old man driving a car.

Life is good

This weekend was excellent! In my fantasy football league I was playing a friend who happens to be a steelers fan and in the NFL, my team (the Broncos) were playing his team the steelers, their record was 4 to 1. His fantasy team name is the Anti-Broncos, so you can bet there is a little rivalry between us. My fantasy team has been struggling and unfortunately so have the Broncos, so I was more then a little worried going into this weekend.

Well I crushed his fantasy team and the Broncos played their best so far this year, scoring 31 points and won the game with an Elam field Goal at the last second.

So I've felt about like this fan, who was actually at the Broncos v. Steelers game.

Quote of the week - pardon the blasphemy

"It's all Christianity, people. The little, stupid differences are nothing next to the big, stupid similarities."

--Bart Simpson

Found this on beliefnet its a well designed site with some pretty good essays and debates.

Anyway thought that was funny, I obviously don't think Christianity is stupid, but I do find it strange that people get so focused on the little differences and forget that each Christian religion strives to be Christ centered.

Booze Cruise

Saturday night we went on a dinner cruise of Town Lake. The boat was rented by State Farm and the food was fajitas catered by the Hyatt. It was quite enjoyable, we could not have asked for better weather and the lake looks different when you are relaxing. (We have canoed on the lake a few times but it’s hard to enjoy the scenery while exercising)

The event was BYOB (Apparently to keep your sanity at State Farm you must develop a sense of humor i.e. Cedric the Entertainer or drink alot) so we were the only couple there without a cooler.

Although after seeing this picture, I think Crystal might have been sneaking a few drinks behind my back.

Haircut

Crystal got her haircut yesterday. It was only the second time in the 5 years I have known her that she added any color.

She told me not to post any pictures, but I don't listen :)

MMMM - That new car smell

So we finally made a decision and bought a car.

We chose a 2007 Chevy Equinox LT.

I'm addicted to the new car smell.

Everybody needs to drive a new car atleast once in their lives.

(I can't find our camera, so I'll add pics later)

Qoute of the Week - excuse the language

"If I'm the Eagles' Andy Reid right now in my bye week, I'm thinking I'll be damned (well, he's a Mormon, so he'll be darned)"

Great Short Stories

If any of you like reading or writing short stories, there is a great website that you need to check out.

It's basically a science fiction magazine, although its not too sci-fi in nature, some of the stories are more supernatural stories then science stories. It publishes a new issue each quarter for only $2.50. Each issue has seven or eight short stories that were submitted by amateur writers. They get paid for each published story and not every story submitted is published. Some of the stories are for children/teens and are similar to the Goosebump stories. Most of the stories are very well written and quite enjoyable; it’s a nice way to spend your breaks at work. Also included in each issue is a short story by Orson Scott Card, based on his novel Ender’s Game.

There are also some reviews and other fun stuff in the magazine. The Sixth issue just came out on Friday and is worth checking out.

Have fun reading or if you're more adventurous, have fun writing!

Shower fun

So this morning I got out of the shower and dried off. As I was putting the towell up I felt something rough, so I looked at what I was touching and my thumb was right on top of a scorpion!

I had completely dried off with a scorpion on my towel.

no that's not the scorpion. But I had to include a picture for dramatic effect.

New Orleans

A few months a go we decided to go to New Orleans for a weekend trip. While N.O. is famous for the French Quarter, Bourbon Street and lots of alcohol(among other things), that wasn't our cup of tea.

We enjoyed antique shopping, eating lots of food and visiting the plantations.

There are two types of plantations in N.O. Creole plantations and English plantations. The English plantations were super extravagant and fancy, however the tours offered there were lacking excitement. One cool note lots of movies use the plantation homes. The Creole homes were very colorful and the tours were much more interesting. We especially enjoyed the Laura Plantation. They allowed us to walk into every room of the house and even took us to the basement.

Car Shopping

So we're looking for a new car, we've decided we are going to buy a small SUV. Our two favorites are the Equinox and the CX-7

Tell me your opinion!
